TAPS Newborn Groups
There is something magical about bringing home a newborn. That sweet smell, how they can snuggle in your arms forever, and the way they look into your eyes because you are their whole world. But, caring for a newborn can also be isolating, confusing, and even frustrating.
At TAPS, we know that each child and each family is different and that there are lots of different "right ways" to parent your children. That's why we offer a 10 week facilitated group; a nonjudgmental and supportive space, so that so that you don't have to go through this stage of life alone. Sharing life experiences through our groups offers a kind of connection that nothing else can. It's magical. It's empowering. It's an opportunity that Triangle Area Parenting Support brings to the Triangle Metro Area.
We offer two types of TAPS Newborn groups -- groups for moms and groups for couples. At both types of groups, parents attend with their infant aged 0-16 weeks. TAPS Newborn groups are hosted in participants homes. We believe that opening up your home helps build trust and trust builds community. Groups meet weekly for about two hours.
TAPS follows the model of peer to peer support designed by the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS). During each meeting you will shares your highs and lows for the week, play games, sing songs, and discuss a relevant parenting topic. Groups are coordinated based on region of the Triangle to ensure that group members live as close to each other as possible!
We recommend registering before baby arrives so that we can place you in a group as soon as possible. If your baby will be older than four months when your group starts, we recommend registering for a TAPS Babies Group instead. We create groups as we have demand for them. A registration deposit of $15 holds your place in an upcoming group and is applied toward your $50 program fee. If you would like to be placed into a group with a friend or in a group you saw advertised online, please let us know so that we can try to accommodate you!
