Our Mission

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exist to connect, inform, and empower parents by facilitating inclusive, research based, non-judgmental sustainable support programs.

When parents have strong social connections they are better prepared to handle the stresses that come along with their roles.

Our facilitated groups offer opportunities for parents to learn more about parenting and child development.

When parents feel competent in their roles they are better able to cope with stress, seek out help, and make confident parenting decisions.

Our Methods

To do all of this, we employ the 5 Pillars of the Strengthening Families approach.

“When parents approach their role from a place of internal confidence they can make wise decisions that benefit their children. The whole family grows from that nurturing strength.”
— Charlene Harper Brown

Our Impact

In our first year, TAPS provided support to over 100 families in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Morrisville, Durham, Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, and Raleigh. Here is what our TAPS moms have to say:

“My best memory was going out for ice cream with a few of the other moms on a day that was really difficult for me emotionally. I let the group know that I was feeling down and 3 or 4 of the moms joined in an effort to help me feel better. I felt very supported that day.”

“I loved how we all shared and had our own time to talk. The highs and lows were helpful--I caught myself thinking many times "this is a high!" Or "I will have to share this as a low."
